Texarkana Young Lawyers Association names Eastern District Bar Association President-elect John Mercy Lawyer of the Year

At a recent meeting with the Texarkana Bar Association, Texarkana attorney (and Eastern District Bar president-elect) John Mercy was presented with the Texarkana Young Lawyer Association's "Lawyer of the Year" award. John will assume office as president of the ED Bar next month at the bench/bar meeting in Galveston.

Eastern District Bar Association Funds Judicial Intern

The Eastern District Bar Association recently contributed $5,000 to the ABA Section of Litigation's Judicial Intern Opportunity Program. This program offers minority and financially disadvantaged law students the aopportunity to clerk with a participating state or federal judge. The program started placing interns with Eastern District judges this year.
